Michael Nead, MD, PhD

Michael A. Nead, MD, PhD, FCCP is board certified in Pulmonary Disease, Critical Care Medicine, as well as Interventional Pulmonology and practices in the Pulmonary & Critical Care Division at the University of Rochester Medical Center in Rochester, New York.  He is an Associate Professor of Medicine at the University of Rochester, where he helps educate resident and fellow physicians in the practice of pulmonary and critical care medicine, as well in the procedural skills that accompany his role as an Interventional Pulmonologist.  He graduated from Dartmouth College in 1991, obtained his MD and PhD degrees from the University to Rochester in 1999, and completed his residency and chief residency in Internal Medicine also at the University of Rochester.  He obtained his pulmonary and critical care training at Yale University before returning to Rochester in 2006.  He currently serves as the Clinical Director for the Pulmonary & Critical Care Division, as well as the Medical Director for Interventional Pulmonology. Dr. Nead is a Fellow of the American College of Chest Physicians and a Diplomate of the American Association of Bronchology and Interventional Pulmonology.  He remains active in the New York State Thoracic Society, having served in various leadership roles, including as President from 2019-2021.
