Panelist: Curtis Benesch, M.D., M.P.H.

Dr. Benesch's specialty is cerebrovascular disease, with particular interest in acute stroke treatment, cost-effectiveness of stroke prevention, and patient education.

Dr. Benesch is currently an Associate Professor of Neurology and Neurosurgery at the University of Rochester School of Medicine and Dentistry, and Director of the Strong Stroke Center.  He completed his medical school training at the University of Nebraska Medical Center before arriving at the University of Rochester where he completed his Neurology Residency and a Fellowship in Experimental Therapeutics in Cerebrovascular Disease.  He is a board-certified Vascular Neurologist with research and clinical interests in patients with cerebrovascular disease.

Dr. Benesch is the Principal Investigator of an NIH-funded, multi-center clinical trial of Activated Protein C as a treatment for patients with acute stroke.  He also conducts a number of other clinical trials for acute stroke and secondary stroke prevention.

Dr. Benesch is committed to improving the care of patients with stroke and raising public awareness about cerebrovascular disease.
In addition to his academic work, Dr. Benesch has also worked closely with the American Stroke Association in public education about strokes.
