Caregiver to wife with Alzheimer's Disease
Pittsburgh, PA

For 17 years David was an in-home caregiver, along with his daughter Becky and sister-in-law Fritzie, for his wife Barbara who had been diagnosed with a combination of Alzheimer's disease and Lewy Body disease.

Following service in the Navy during WW II he served a four year apprenticeship in bricklaying, working as a journeyman for another six years. After discovering there was as much concrete block laying as bricklaying in the trade, he determined his back was not built for the strain nor was the seasonal work conducive to raising a family.

He joined Continental Casualty Co., later CNA, as a claim representative. He retired as a claim consultant in 1989 after 30 years, 25 of which were spent handling claims against architects and engineers insured under a professional liability policy.

He enjoys trout fishing in spring and fall, with golf in between when time permits and for many years enjoyed ice carving. He now reads more than anything.

Barbara Latshaw passed away on December 10, 2008.  She will live on in the hearts of everyone who loved her.
