David W. Dougherty, MD, MBA

David W. Dougherty, MD, MBA is a board-certified medical oncologist with a clinical focus in lung and head & neck cancer.  A graduate of the Pennsylvania State University, he earned his medical degree at Jefferson Medical College.  He completed internship, residency and chief residency at Penn State Hershey Medical Center/Penn State College of Medicine, followed by a fellowship in Medical Oncology at the University of Rochester Medical Center (URMC).  Dougherty joined the faculty of the Wilmot Cancer Center/URMC in 2011 and graduated with honors from the Executive Masters of Business Administration program at the University of Rochester’s Simon School of Business in 2013.  Dr. Dougherty is currently an Assistant Professor of Medicine and Oncology and Chief Quality & Safety Officer for the Wilmot Cancer Institute, where he has lead the Cancer Institute’s involvement in the American Society of Clinical Oncology’s (ASCO) Quality Oncology Practice Initiative (QOPI) for which Wilmot has been recognized by receiving certification status demonstrating outstanding commitment to quality and safety.  Dr. Dougherty serves on the ASCO QOPI Steering Committee and QOPI Certification Board, where he is integrally involved in the oversight of the program that currently sets the national standard for quality measurement and quality improvement in cancer care.
