Gretchen Ahrendt, M.D. is an Associate Professor of Surgery and Oncology at the University of Rochester School of Medicine in Rochester, NY. She is the surgical director of the Comprehensive Breast Cancer Program at the James P. Wilmot Cancer Center. Her clinical interest is in breast oncology and the surgical management of breast cancer and breast disease. She is an active member of the American College of Surgeons Oncology Group and is involved in national clinical research trials investigating the role of axillary lymph node surgery in women with breast cancer as well as alternatives to Tamoxifen for management of in situ breast cancer.  Dr. Ahrendt received her medical degree from the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine in Baltimore, MD. She completed her surgical training at the Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore, MD and was an Assistant Professor of Surgery at the Medical College of Wisconsin in Milwaukee, WI before joining the Department of Surgery in Rochester.
