Dr. Abraham is the first Bonnie Wells Wilson and Distinguished Professor and Eminent Scholar in Breast Cancer Research at MBRCC.  Dr. Abraham is dedicated to research in breast cancer diagnosis and treatment. He is the co-leader of the breast cancer program at MBRCC. .

He is a member of Breast Cancer Working Group of National Surgical and Adjuvant Bowel Project (NSABP, www.nsabp.pitt.edu) and is on the board of directors of the South Atlantic Division of the American Cancer Society (www.cancer.org).

He is the Principal Investigator (PI) for more than 15 clinical trials at the Cancer Center. He is the Institutional PI for all the Eastern Cooperative Oncology Group (ECOG) and NSABP clinical trials. His translational research is focused on understanding the pathophysiology of chemotherapy induced cognitive dysfunction. His group has made notable contributions in preclinical, clinical and genomic understanding of “chemobrain”.

Dr. Abraham is the founding editor of Bethesda Handbook of Clinical Oncology, (3rd edition) (Lippincott Williams and Wilkins 2001, 2005 and 2009) a 700 page text book in Hematology-oncology. It is one of the best selling small textbooks in Oncology worldwide. Dr. Abraham is the chief editor of the Emerging Cancer Therapeutics series published by Demos publication, New York. He is also the editor of Breast Cancer: a Clinical Guide (Lippincott Williams and Wilkins, 2007).

Dr. Abraham has received several awards including an award from the President of India (Vaidya Bhooshan 2010), Dean’s Award for Excellence in Clinical Medicine (2010), Quality Award by West Virginia University Hospitals (2010), Outstanding Faculty Award (2007) and Clinician of the Year Award (2006) by the Department of Medicine. Over the past 9 years he has given more than 100 invited lectures on breast cancer in the U.S and abroad.
