Karen Fasciano is a clinical psychologist who has dedicated the majority of her career to assisting patients with the emotional challenges of cancer.  She has worked in both pediatric and adult cancer settings, and is now the Director of the Young Adult Program in the Department of Psychosocial Oncology and Palliative Care at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute.  She is also an associate psychologist in the Department of Psychiatry at Brigham and Women’s Hospital.  Creating innovative support programs to meet the unique needs of young adults coping with cancer has been her most recent clinical contribution.  Dr Fasciano is also interested in evidence based models of psychosocial care for cancer patients, especially in the face of changing health care systems.  She is a contributing author to several journal articles examining the psychological issues faced by young adults with cancer.  In addition, Dr. Fasciano enjoys teaching medical students, palliative care fellows, and psychology fellows about the emotional needs of cancer patients.
