Dr. Marc R. Blackman is Associate Chief of Staff for Research and Development at the Washington DC VA Medical Center. Previously, he served as the Chief, Endocrine Section, Laboratory of Clinical Investigation, Division of Intramural Research (DIR) at the National Center on Complementary and Alternative Medicine (NCCAM), National Institutes of Health.

Dr. Blackman is an active clinician, teacher, researcher and an administrator. He is Board certified in Internal Medicine and Endocrinology and Metabolism. He is also a member of numerous medical and scientific societies, and has served as a scientific consultant for various academic, industrial, and private organizations. Dr. Blackman was a member of the National Advisory Committee for Endocrinology and Aging in the NIA's Biology of Aging Program, and served on the Executive Committee of the GCRC's National Program Directors Association.

A Boston native, Dr. Blackman received his undergraduate degree, summa cum laude, from Northeastern University in Boston, MA. He received his medical degree from the New York University School of Medicine, where he was inducted into the Alpha Omega Alpha Medical Honor Society. Dr. Blackman was also on the full-time faculty at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine, where he became a tenured Professor of Medicine. He also served as Chief of the Division of Endocrinology and Metabolism as well as Program Director of the NIH-funded General Clinical Research Center (GCRC) at the Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center. He has received numerous teaching and academic awards, and has published more than 330 scientific journal articles, chapters, books, and abstracts.
