Mickey Burt, D.C., is Chief of Alumni Development for Palmer College of Chiropractic, Davenport, Iowa, and president and founder of Burt Clinic of Chiropractic in Walcott, Iowa. He earned his Doctor of Chiropractic degree from Palmer College in 1973, and also received Palmer's Clinical Excellence Award. He opened Burt Clinic of Chiropractic in 1974 and taught in Palmer College's Clinical Science Department from 1973 to 1976. Two of his sons have joined him in practice. Dr. Burt has seen his practice grow from the very first patient to a busy, three-doctor clinic, and expand from a small office to an 8,200-square-foot facility including a radiology and physiotherapy suite as well as a wing housing offices for primary care medical doctors. He was appointed Palmer's Chief of Alumni Development in June 2005. In support of his alma mater, he serves as co-chair for the Palmer College capital campaign, which has raised more than $28 million dollars in four years. He is active in his profession, and is the first chiropractor to sit on the quality oversight committee for Blue Cross/Blue Shield of Iowa. Dr. Burt also has served as a state representative for the International Chiropractors Association, as well as a district president, district director and vision steering committee member for his state associations. He also is a member of the American Chiropractic Association. His community involvement includes chairing the Walcott Economic Development Committee, and serving as a city councilman and mayor pro-tem. He and his wife, Karla, have three sons: Dr. Chad Burt, Dr. Bradley Burt and Austin Burt.
