Prior to becoming director of Duke Integrative Medicine, Tracy Gaudet, MD, was the founding executive director of the University of Arizona's Integrative Medicine Program, where she led the design of the country's first comprehensive curriculum in this emerging field.

During that time, she coordinated the successful establishment of the Integrative Medicine teaching clinic and launched a two-year fellowship program intended to produce physician leaders and foster the redesign of medical education.

A practitioner in obstetrics and gynecology and a noted expert in women's health issues, she serves as the Lifestyles Makeover Medical expert on Oprah, and has been featured on ABC News, 20/20 and Arts and Entertainment.

She has been published in numerous academic and professional journals such as AM News and Alternative Therapies in Health and Medicine, and Bantam published her new book, Consciously Female in 2004.

Gaudet attended the Duke University School of Medicine and earned her MD degree with honors before completing her residency in obstetrics and gynecology at the University of Texas, San Antonio.
