Victoria L. Handa, MD, MHS

Dr. Handa grew up near Boston, MA. After graduating from Princeton University with a degree in Civil Engineering, Dr. Handa attended the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine, in Philadelphia.  Her training in Obstetrics and Gynecology was completed at the University of California San Francisco, where she also served as Chief Resident.  After several years on the faculty of Duke University, she studied Urogynecology under the mentorship of Dr. Donald Ostergard at the University of California Irvine.  She is currently a Professor of Gynecology and Obstetrics at Johns Hopkins School of Medicine.  She has a degree in epidemiology from the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health, where she was the recipient of the Trudy Bush Prize for research in women’s health.  She is currently the Vice Chair for Obstetrics and Gynecology at Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center and the director of the Johns Hopkins Fellowship in Female Pelvic Medicine and Reconstructive Surgery.  She serves as the national Research Chair for the American Urogyecologic Society.  Her practice focuses on the evaluation and treatment of female pelvic floor disorders, including incontinence and pelvic organ prolapse.  She is the recipient of several NIH grants, with a focus on the link between childbirth and the development of pelvic floor disorders later in life.  Dr. Handa lives in Baltimore with her husband, two children, their dog, and a school of tropical fish.
